TWO SUCCESSFUL BOILER SEMINARS HELD IN JOHANNESBURG AND CAPE TOWN

Cabanga Conference Centre
in Northriding, Johannesburg

The Combustion Technology Boiler Seminars which are held in both Cape Town and Johannesburg have become a regular feature on our calendar.

The seminar in Cape Town was held at our head office and from the feedback we received on our questionnaires, we are doing it right!

Chris Rademeyer from Afrox comments "I am amazed with the advanced technology in the burner/heat control field!" Everyone attending the seminar felt that they benefited from the session and today with the rising cost of fuel it necessary to keep up to date with the developments in the industry to ensure that you are getting the most out of your equipment.

"We are already working with Combustion Technology but it was good to see and learn about the burners and boilers and see what the company is all about," said Francois van Eeden of Clover.

Our Johannesburg seminar proved just as successful as its Cape Town counterpart. Delegates from Uniresins, Clover Danone, Engen, Viscol and Pioneer Foods spent the day listening to Grant Renecle impart his knowledge on burners and boilers!

The next seminars will be held towards the end of the year and will have a change in format - both in the content and the presentation - watch this space!

HOUSEKEEPING : NEW CODE FOR R 40 PUMP

We wish to bring your attention a new pump code which has been changed by our supplier in Italy.

The new code 3020476, replaces the pump codes you are familiar with as 3007811 and 3007803 pumps.

This pump is suitable for use on Diesel and Paraffin burners, and is used on the G5, G10 and G 20 Burners.

The "G" Pump gives more reliability with the ultra low sulphur kerosene and is identifiable by the letter "G" on the cover. All the technical features remain the same as the previous models.

Please use the new code when placing orders in the future.

I&J FISHING

The fishing vessel, Bluebell, which is part of the I&J Fleet, was experiencing problems with their Riello Burner while they were out deep sea fishing and could not manage to get it to work properly.

"We have a complete fish processing plant on board the Bluebell and we cannot afford for it to be docked for any length of time for repairs," explain Gary Richards, Superintendent at I&J.

Gary contacted Dewald Lubbe in Cape Town and it was agreed that the vessel would dock in the Cape Town Harbour at the I&J factory, where Dewald would attend to the repairs during the docking time so that the minimal amount of time would be wasted.

The Bluebell docked at 22:00 on Tuesday 22 April and Dewald was ready and waiting. All the problems were identified and by 06:00 the next morning the burner had been fully repaired. All the safety devices were checked and tested - everything was 100%! The Bluebell was ready to set sail again with the absolute minimum amount of time lost in their fishing schedule.

"We thank Dewald for pulling out all the stops and for his great service - we are incredibly happy with Combustion Technology!" said Gary.

Nothing fishy about this story - just a job well done!

REDUCE YOUR FUEL BILL WITH COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGY

With the ever increasing price of oil, there is no question that companies HAVE to start looking at ways of reducing their fuel bills.

At Combustion Technology we are at the forefront of the drive for better fuel economy and emission reduction.

We have successfully reduced fuel bills at over 100 companies around South Africa, where fuel savings of between 15 and 58% have been experienced!

  • Lutzville Vineyards on the West Coast managed to recoup their capital outlay in just three months instead of the projected three years!
  • Rooibos Tea reduced their fuel bill by 58% within the first year of installation!
  • Novofeeds in George reduced their intake of paraffin by 50% - from 8000 litres to 4000 litres - per week!

Contact our offices now to arrange a meeting with either Grant, Kenneth or Dewald in Cape Town, or if you are in Gauteng, Chris, Adam or Lionel.

NEW ADDITION TO THE COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGY FAMILY IN CAPE TOWN!

Our receptionist, Michelle Rawsthorne gave birth to Tristan on 6 June 2008.  Both mother, baby (and dad) are doing well and we look forward to welcoming Michelle back to the office on 1 September 2008.

OUR NEW PREMISES ON THE EAST RAND

We will be moving into our new state of the art premises at Dekema Park, on the East Rand in the near future. The factory will have a custom built mezzanine floor with plenty of office space and an additional open area to serve as both a canteen and a storage area.

The premises will be heated via a gas-fired hot water boiler which will circulate hot water to European style wall mounted heaters, which will also provide heating for the ablutions. The SASOL gas-line on site will be providing the gas.

We will also have a  facility to test gas burners and the hot water boiler will also serve as a demonstration/test facility for the Autoflame System.

We will advise when our big move is due to take place!

WATERTUBE STEAM GENERATORS - ENERGY INTELLIGENT BOILER PLANTS

The Watertube Steam Generators are suitable for a number of applications - from power generation, to processing steam and heat and for co-generation.

The range of boilers - Series DS flows up to 22kg/second, Series DSX up to 38kg/second and Series DSXX up to 101kg/second - all with Pressures up to 103 BAR and temperatures of 565°C.
Here are some design features of the technique along with features of the Economizer. Contact us for more information.

2RCT BOILER RANGE PHASED OUT

We reported earlier this year about the decision by Riello to phase out the 2 RCT Boilers which they have been producing for over twenty years.
They have now been discontinued and are replaced with a new and highly improved range of boilers - Tregi N and NK Series.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION IN KWA-ZULU NATAL

Flamerite Engineering in Durban recently completed an installation at Epol Foods.  A division of Rainbow Chickens, Epol Foods manufactures chicken food for Rainbow and the boilers are used in this food manufacturing process.

The 4 ton boiler was due for replacement since it was old and no longer reliable.  There were also two 2 ton boilers which were used as backups.  Since the plant was due for expansion, Epol Foods made a call to Graham Scheepers at Flamerite Engineering, who gave recommendations for the replacement of the large boiler. "They required a boiler with a bigger capacity and we decided to install a 6 ton Garioni Naval Steam Boiler, together with a Riello HFO Burner complete with Autoflame Combustion Management System at the plant," explains Graham.

While reluctant to give figures on their savings at this stage, Chris Rossouw, the Plant Engineer has confirmed that they have noticed a significant reduction thus far in their fuel bill and that the equipment is far more dependable, resulting in less down time.

More accurate figures will be released by Flamerite Engineering after a few months of consistent usage of the equipment.
